We are excited to share preliminary information about our upcoming expansion project. As plans evolve, we will continue to share all relevant information. Here are some answers to some of our most frenquently asked questions.
What’s included in this project?
The exact scope of the project is still being confirmed, but we envision the addition of apartment and villa-style homes, and new ways to enjoy our exceptionally beautiful 125-acre campus.
Where on McLean’s campus will the new independent residences be located?
We do not know yet. With 125 acres to work with, we are studying the topography and environmental impact with an eye toward minimizing disruption for our current residents.
Why has McLean decided to move forward with this project now?
This expansion is the continuation of a long-term strategic plan to add more independent living residences to our existing senior living options. A second phase of expansion was always anticipated. Mclean’s Goodrich expansion sold out ahead of its opening in 2022 and, based on interest gauged through a financial feasibility study and a survey of age- and income-qualified seniors in our market, we expect equally high demand for these new residences. Additionally, enhancing our campus brings greater long-term financial stability to our organization.
How does this align with McLean’s mission to better serve area seniors?
As stewards of Senator McLean’s will, we embrace our commitment to support the needs of McLean residents and area seniors by providing services and amenities that empower purposeful aging. McLean has a long-standing history of being a trusted resource for seniors, and this project will help ensure we offer a vibrant, dynamic lifestyle backed by the assurance of access to high-quality health care should it be needed.
What is the Vantage Program?
The McLean Vantage Program gives potential new residents the opportunity to make a fully refundable $1,000 deposit that will secure their place in line to see plans and pricing in order to reserve a new residence. Vantage Program members are also eligible for many exclusive benefits, including the lowest pre-construction pricing that will be offered.
What is the project’s timeline?
We’re still in the very early stages of planning, but we’ll break ground once the scope
is confirmed, our financing is secured, and we’ve reached our presales goal. We will break ground to start construction in about 18 months, and we anticipate construction will take approximately 18 months to complete. This timeline gives Vantage Members time to take care of tasks such as rightsizing belongings, selling a home, and planning for a smooth transition.
Will you remove trees or other green space for this project?
Our nature-filled community, and our convenient access to the nearby McLean Game Refuge, are significant reasons why many residents choose McLean as their home.
As such, we understand the important role we have as custodians of our land and
our responsibility to thoroughly assess any actions that may impact our surrounding environment. While any construction project involves changes to the landscape, it is our intent to minimize disruption to the natural areas of our campus.
