Home Health Aide - 30 hours

30 hours weekly Monday – Friday with 1 weekend day a month rotation.  1 to 2 hour cases throught the day to care for our clients in the Farmington Valley.  Mileage reimbursement along with full benefits.  Must have reliable transportation. Must have CT Nurse Aide Registration (CNA) or Home Health Aide certificaiton.  Regular patient visits with rich  benefits.

We are looking for a dishwasher to work 40 hours 12:30pm-8:30pm including every other weekend.  Operate the dish machine along with cleaning pots/pans and kitchen area and floor.  15% weekend differential with a good, solid schedule to offer a good work/life balance.

McLean Game Refuge

About the Game Refuge:

The McLean Game Refuge is a 4,415-acre wildlife sanctuary in north-central Connecticut. It was established in 1932 by former CT Governor and US Senator, George McLean on his private hunting reserve at the time of his death. Our work here focuses on ecological research and the management of a diverse array of habitats to support hundreds of plant and animal species, many of which are regionally threatened by habitat loss, invasive species, and climate change. Within our vast forests, we provide 27 miles of forest roads and hiking trails for the public to hike, snowshoe, and cross-country ski.

Position Summary:

The McLean Game Refuge is searching for four (4) Summer Forest Rangers to complete its 2024 Summer Forest Crew. Under the direction of the Crew Leader and the Game Refuge Director, the Summer Forest Rangers will aid in the research, education, conservation, and maintenance activities of the Game Refuge for the summer of 2024. Applicants must be current undergraduate students pursuing a course of study in forestry, environmental studies, biology, botany, outdoor recreation, or another related field. Recent college graduates may also apply given they are pursuing a graduate degree in a related field. This position is designed as an internship to provide professional skills for a future career in an environmental field. This is a 10-week program beginning the first week of June and concluding in August.

Duties:

  • Remove trash and brush from trails
  • Build, restore, and reroute trails and forest roads
  • Collect GPS data and conduct mapping projects
  • Collect and interpret tree core samples
  • Support various research projects underway at the Game Refuge
  • Maintain Game Refuge boundaries using mapping and signage
  • Interact with visitors in the Game Refuge, providing information and encouraging visitors to adhere to the rules and policies
  • Clean and maintain equipment
  • Perform other similar physical and clerical tasks related to conservation and recreation

Additional Requirements:

  • Arrive on time and consistently and clearly communicate with Crew Leader and Director about work availability
  • Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor
  • Come to work prepared with appropriate tools, equipment, and attire (boots and long pants must be worn at all times)

 

 

 

Experience/Education:

  • Applicants must have completed or be pursuing a college degree in forestry, environmental studies, biology, botany, outdoor recreation, or another related field
  • This position requires full range of body motion. Ability to lift and carry items weighing 50 pound or more, often combined with bending and turning.  Requires manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.  Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal limits.  Requires ability to hike 5 – 10 miles.  Requires the use of hand tools
  • Applicants must have demonstrated work or volunteer experience in an environmental, conservation, or outdoor recreation field.

Hospice Director

Responsible for the day to day direction, coordination, and general supervision of the Hospice Program services. Responsible for the overall management and direction of the Hospice program , including organization planning and budgeting, as well as insuring organizational compliance with legal, regulatory, accreditation requirements and monitoring business operations for financial stability. Responsible for evaluations of all hospice services, programs and personnel using measurable outcomes and objectives. Works collaboratively with Home Care Director and leaders within McLean service lines.

Evening opportunity Monday-Friday with every third weekend rotation 1:00pm-9:30pm. Healthcare experience a plus but not required. Cleaning of resident rooms and common areas, floors, carpets and wheelchairs. Responds to calls for immediate assistance with respect to accidental spills etc. Full benefits including a 15% weekend differential.

RN Clinical Educator

16 hours weekly to communicate, track and create clinical education for all aides and licensed staff orientations along with facility mandatory yearly in-service education. Must have previous experience, very strong computer skills with flexibility of schedule. This position can be combined with charge/supervisor hours if full-time is what you need.

The McLean Auxiliary Annual Scholarship Award

The McLean Auxiliary awards an annual scholarship up to $1,500 to an employee or child of an employee who’s pursuing a post-high school education in a medical or health care-related field.

Applications are available to employees in the McLean Human Resources office.  Application can be made at any time. Decisions will be made annually during the last week of July.  If granted assistance will be paid after successful (grade C or better) completion of the course.  

The McLean Auxiliary will announce winners of the scholarship at their Membership Social in October.
