McLean Resident Takes Part in American Warrior Honor Flight Program

McLean resident and WW II Veteran, Donald Gebhardt, served as an Army Air Corp radar repairman and was stationed in Okinawa, Guam and Saipan. This past month, he fulfilled an 8-year old dream by visiting the WWII memorial in Washington DC, as part of the American Warrior’s Honor Flight program.

McLean Celebrates Memorial Day

Members of the Color Guard from the American Legion and VFW Simsbury participated in honoring veterans on the McLean campus on Monday. After a welcome presentation by volunteer Dane Woodbury, including a history of the poppy flower often worn to symbolize Memorial Day, the members of the Color Guard ceremoniously raised a new American Flag, then somberly lowered it to half-staff in honor of the men and women who died while in the military service.

On Tap from The Farmington Valley Chorus, Simsbury came to sing patriotic songs to cap off the celebrations.
